The Sleep

Brancusi The SleepThe Sleep represents the head of a sleeping woman. In the marble block the features are very delicate, barely perceptible, emanating great sensibility.
It looks like Brancusi also made a plaster 1906, preceded by another sculture The Sleeping Teen made in 1905.
This marble sculpture was commissioned by Anastase Simu a fellowman for his future museum in Bucharest.
