This is the first version of the endless column, it was carved from a oak, in the memory of those fallen in the World War I, although some researchers argue that Brancusi had carved some versions as early as 1909 .
The column consists of 3 modules and it is built from stacked blocks of pyramid.
The name doesn't refer to its size but to its geometric structure: a repeating shape that allows more elements to be added without disturbing its balance. Every new element begins whhere the last one ends.
