Brancusi DanaidaOn a photograph of this sculpture Brancusi noted Head of a Girl 1908.
It raised a lot of questions about the authenticity of the work because it was known that Brancusi would have been at that time in Romania.
The investigations revealed that it was created in the workshop of the collector Bogdan Pitesti, in one of Brancusi's visit to Bucharest.

Danaida was made from a special stone imported from Bulgaria that was used by many sculptors . This stone head was exposed in Bucharest in 1914 at the XIV Artistic Youth Exhibition and it was bought by Bogdan Pitesti.
